The Proverbs Project - Chapter 26 v.4
"Do not answer a fool according to his folly Or he will be wise in his own eyes." Again, The wisdom of Solomon tells us the dangers of arguing with those who are fools. Unfortunately, this has become way too common in our society. People cannot agree that a divergent point of view or philosophy does not make one "the stupidest thing I have ever heard." Those with whom we disagree are not inherently stupid or foolish...but engaging those in an emotional argument is a foolish behavior. Calm, rational discourse is a great tool for learning and expanding one's own understanding... Unfortunately, there is far too little of this behavior today. It has become acceptable to personally attack those with whom we disagree... Again, this is foolish behavior and the sort of action that a fool would encourage and condone. The wise will clearly and rationally articulate their position, philosophy, or belief. Those who do not agree are welcome to rational discourse. BUT as we are told by Solomon and George Bernard Shaw. - "Never wrestle with pigs, you both get dirty and the pig likes it."
